industrial robot arm

Industrial Robot Arm Sourcing is an independent sourcing partner. Share payload with gripper mass, reach, quantity and destination so we can request factory quotes for an industrial robot arm. Catalog kilogram ratings are not a cell duty until the tool, cable bundle and approach attitude are named. Complete palletizing cells and welding cells are a separate procurement scope.

Site interface register

Connections to confirm
Interface Buyer input
Electrical Controller cabinet voltage, phase and frequency, plus connected load for the arm, teach pendant and any external axis the plant already owns.
Utilities Compressed air for the gripper, vacuum if used, and extraction or cooling water only when the tool actually consumes them. Do not copy a welding-cell utility list onto an arm-only RFQ.
Controls PLC interface, safety I/O, part-present signals and the handshake that starts and stops the adjacent machine. Name the protocol the plant already uses rather than assuming a generic fieldbus.

Read how payload should include tooling and why task-position access differs from a reach circle before comparing replies. Browse inquiry options when you are ready to name a configuration.

Replacement versus new installation

Buyers often start from an existing loader, gantry or older arm. The RFQ still has to state whether the new industrial robot arm must reuse the same pedestal, fence opening and machine window, or whether a new envelope is allowed.

Existing process

If a machine already presents a pallet, chuck or fixture, record the opening dimensions, the required approach vector and how an interrupted machine-loading cycle is recovered today. A replacement that cannot restore the sequence after a missed pick will stall the same station that the old equipment already occupies.

Ask each factory to treat gripper, adapters, valves and carried cables as part of the payload model rather than as later accessories.

When the handled part family changes

What changes between products?

Gripper fingers, tool-center-point offsets and wrist inertia change when SKUs differ in mass or grip location. List the heaviest part, the longest offset and the most awkward orientation so factories do not quote against a single average workpiece.

What must be cleaned or replaced?

Name which jaws, vacuum cups or cable loops must come off between SKUs. If a quick-change tool plate is expected, state whether it is inside the quoted arm package or a separately priced option.

How is the first good output verified?

Define the first accepted pick-and-place: orientation at the fixture, dwell, and whether a missed pick counts as a fail. Cycle time without those dwells is not comparable throughput.

Questions before the first quote

Which procurement scope is covered by industrial robot arm?

Existing process

The scoped purchase is the manipulator, controller and the stated end-of-arm interfaces. Fixtures, conveyors, machine guarding for a whole line, and process equipment for welding or palletizing remain outside unless they are written as separate line items.

Payload, reach, number of axes and repeatability are comparison keys; they do not replace a layout that proves the required orientation at each task position.

Does the payload model include gripper and carried equipment?

It should. The mass of the handled part is only the starting point. Add gripper, adapters, valves and carried cables, with center-of-gravity locations, and ask the bidder to check wrist moments. A long offset can create a different loading problem from a compact part of equal mass. Published six-axis datasheets, including public examples such as a compact 25 kg class arm, describe one catalog configuration; they do not prove your tool can follow the required path at the target cycle time.
